Parshas Pinchas

Hi everyone, I was afraid that you would go into your Shabbos without know this week's Parsha. So I made you this brief summary. I hope you learn something new.

This week's Parsha is called, Pinchas (PINN-CHASS.) Pinchas was the name of a Jew who did a very heroic feet which got his name on a Parsha. what he did was in last week's Parsha a Jewish man named Zimri (ZIMM-REE) did a terrible avaira (UH-VAY-RUH) sin. here's what happened, an evil king by the name of king Balak (BUH-LAK) wanted the Jews to be destroyed because of his hatred towards the. He "hired" a powerful magician to curse the Jewish people but Hashem would not let the magician curse them. The king a thought of a plan, his plan was that he would cause the Jewish people to Sinn, causing Hashem to be angry and let the magician curse them. What they did was, they sent beautiful non-Jewish women to get the man to like them, causing the Jews to Sinn (because there is a commandment in the torah not intermarry.) And unfortunately it worked. Zimri, as we mentioned before had a relationship with one of the women he wasn't supposed to. When Pinchas heard this, oh by the way, Pinchas was the grandson of Ahron the head priest. So anyhow, when Pinchas heard this he be came furious and took matters into his own hands a killed Zimri on the sport. Now you would think that Hashem would be upset since there is another commandment in the Torah not to kill. But to the contrary, Hashem was happy or proud, if you were, because he did a kiddush Hashem (KID-DOOSH HASHEM) he had stopped all the other Jews from Sinning because once they saw what would happen to them they immediately stopped.
also in this week's Parsha Moshe said to Hashem, "I will soon die. Please help me find another good leader for the B'nai Yisroel (Jewish People.)" Hashem said, "Don't worry I have already picked one. And he learns Torah from you, Moshe all the time. His name is Yehoshua (YE-HO-SHOE-UH) or Joshua." Moshe placed his hands on Yehoshua. In this way Moshe made Yehoshua into a leader.

We should all learn from Moshe to care for others (even in difficult times)! -AMEN.

Have a great Shabbos and week-end!

P. S. Next week's Parsha is called, Mattos (MAH-TOES). Stay tuned.
