Parshas Tzav - Shabbos Hagadol

This week is particularly special –this is the Shabbos before Pesach (Passover) known as Shabbos Hagadol. Shabbos Hagadol was the day in Mitzrayim (Egypt) that the B’nai Yisroel offered the Korban Pesach. This was their first commandment and the B’nai Yisroel did it without any hesitation, and with the most love imaginable.

וַיַּעַשׂ אַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו אֵת כָּל הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְ־הֹוָ־ה בְּיַד מֹשֶׁה

And Aaron and his sons did all the things that the Lord commanded through Moses. (Leviticus 8:36)

This week we continue to learn about the Korbanos (offerings) and more of their details, we learn specifically, where the Korbanos were brought in the Mishkan (tabernacle). As we know Ahron and his sons, the Kohanim were instructed to serve Hashem in the Mishkan.

At the very end of this week’s Parsha, (the last passuk in fact) we find that the Torah tells us Ahron and his sons did as Hashem commanded. But interestingly, the lashon (carefully selected language) is seemingly peculiar. The passuk says, “And Aaron and his sons did all the things that the Lord commanded through Moses.”

Why does the Torah go into a rather lengthy description of Ahron’s fulfillment of Hashem’s words? Couldn’t it just say something like “Va’yasu Cain” and they did so, (like we find elsewhere) be sufficient?

It could be, Hashem wanted to show us that Ahron didn’t just do everything! Of course he did everything, he was commanded by Hashem! What Hashem is showing us here is that Ahron went beyond the “call of duty” and made sure that every miniscule detail was perfect for each and every Korban in this week’s Parsha.

May we all realize how Ahron served Hashem with such completeness and through that we should all develop ourselves to perform the Mitzvos with meticulousness and this Shabbos Hagadol we should be especially careful to do Mitzvos with z’rizus (quickness). Through this attention to details and alacrity we should be zoche (merit) to the coming of the Moshioch speedily in our days! –Amen!
